| THE ARTIST | |||||
| Marcos is a self taught artist, born and raised with his eleven brothers and sisters in Bullet Tree Falls, a small Peten village nested in the rolling hills of the mighty jungle of the Mayan mountains in Western Belize close to the Guatemalan and Mexican borders. He draws his inspiration and energy from the surrounding beauty of the omnipresent nature where he permanently lives along the bank of a splendid river where this gentle soul looks after iguanas and parrots, a calling which made him the topic of a National Geographic documentary. This state of mind is obviously a determinant characteristic of his painting which reproduces the exotic scenes of his native Central American and Caribbean homeland such as ruins of ancient cities rising out of the lush rain forest, sleepy village life on the Cayes along the coral reef barrier. In many paintings, the colors reveal the true wonders of these magic places where his inspired mind proceeds to reveal the magnificence of the creator’s true masterpieces… Throughout his career, he has improved his technique and developed a wide ranging style all his own which now makes him a well recognize and authentic Belize painter. In his own words and values he cherishes above all and of which his painting are impregnated. | |||||
